Halfway v Cambuslang

The parish match between our two clubs is always a bit special for in 1977 the tournament was given a challenge cup - The McGinlay Trophy, donated by the then owner of the Sun Inn, Mrs Maureen McGinlay. (The President of Cambuslang BC in 1977 was Jim Montgomery Sen and the Halfway BC President was Jackie Fergus.) Both clubs have competed for the trophy ever since with the format of 2 pts a win. The parish match took place and the result was 70 to 48 in favour of the home side Burnside BC      President Johnny McKillop                    alongside      President Robbie McCutcheon                                               photo: Past President James McGall ~ ~ ~  03rd Aug 2023  Ladies v Gents    A lovely afternoon with the Ladies & Gents, weather was brilliant and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.    12th Aug 2023  Birrell Corrance Mixed Triples Tournament         Our annual Birrell Corrance sponsored tournament took place today, 24 gents and 12 ladies were ballotted and drawn into twelve triples.   Two sections of six teams played each other and the winners of each section played the final.   Our thanks to:-  Match Committee: Hon.President Ian Skillen & Past President James McGall.        Green: John Hill                             Bar: Hon.President Peter Phillips  for all their work on the day.   And of course our thanks to everyone who came along and enjoyed a great days bowling.  Thanks to Robert Birrell for his sponsorship. 27th Aug.2023   Marion Alison  Sadly on Sunday 27th August at 6.45 am our dear friend Marion, wife of member David Alison, passed away.  Our sincere sympathy goes to David (known as 'chin') and the family circle and friends.  Funeral arrangements are:  South Lanarkshire Crematorium, Tuesday 5th September at 1pm.  Thereafter to Cambuslang Masonic Hall.
