Our Annual Alex MacFarlane Charity day took place on Sunday 26th May.
        Cambuslang Bowling club  embarked on a special charity day in 1992 after a tragic road accident involving one of our young members, Alex MacFarlane, who died on Boxing Day 1991, aged only 28.  This year was our 28th year and to date this annual event has raised over  £60,000
The club's charity day itself is one of sadness but also joy as everybody participating knows what it means to the family, the Club and most of all the charities.
Local businesses and friends donate prizes for the raffle each year and we are overwhelmed by their generosity year after year, our thanks go to everyone whose donations make this charity day so successful. The support we receive from Bowling Clubs within and outwith the area cannot go unmentioned. Every year we have bowlers and their friends supporting this charity event and making the day the great success that it is. The MacFarlane family kindly donated a "quaich" which is played for each year and presented to the winning rink.

This year the final was won by Peter Aitken, John Mitchell, Robert Carol and William Aitken

The runners-up this year  were Willie Anderson, Eric Donaldson, Kenny Harkin and Jack Donaldson

Our sincere thanks to Director Alan Johnston for running the day and Glenda Montgomery for all her hard work behind the scenes which resulted in a total of £1,577 for the Scottish Based chartity Bravehound - supports former servicemen, women and their families and provides training and dogs to support veterans
